Gold Star Day

Gold Star Day

15100 HWY. 20 W, Madison, AL, 35756

July 14, 2018 11:00AM - 3:00PM

Y'all know that Redstone Harley-Davidson® isn't a bar, but we do legally offer beer. That premium local craft beer is made possible by a partnership between Yellowhammer Brewing and Redstone Harley-Davidson®, and what fuels that partnership is our mutual love for our community and Military families.  As such, when you buy a beer at Redstone Harley-Davidson, we donate all the proceeds to charity, in this case, The North Alabama Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers.  Join us, along with our HOG chapter and Yellowhammer Brewing, July 14th for our First Annual Gold Star Day as we present our donation check. We'll have live music, free food (while it lasts), and giveaways.  The presentation ceremony is 1pm sharp.

We hope you'll join us in supporting the North Alabama Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers, cheers, and we'll see ya on July 14th!

Here is some background on their origins.

The term Gold Star Family is a modern reference that comes from the service flag.  These flags/banners were first flown by families during World War I.  The flag included a blue star for every immediate family member serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, during any period of war or hostilities in which the Armed Forces of the United States were engaged.  If that loved one died, the blue star was replaced by a gold star. This allowed members of the community to know the price that the family had paid in the cause of freedom.  The United States began observing Gold Star Mother's Day on the last Sunday of September in 1936.
